Grant Matevosian
Matevosian, Grant Ignat’evich
Born Mar. 3, 1935, in the village of Akhnidzor, in present-day Tumanian Raion. Soviet Armenian author.
Matevosian graduated from the Armenian Pedagogical Institute in 1964 and was employed in a printing house. His first published work appeared in 1959. He is the author of the novella We and Our Mountains (1962) and of the short stories “August,” “Alkho,” “Mesrop” (all in 1967; awarded the prize of the journal Friendship of the Peoples in 1967) and “Buffalo Cow” (1968). His works are noted for the attempt to create a “complete” personality. Simplicity of narration is combined with a tension of the moral conflicts portrayed.
