Health of the Nation

A UK Department of Health strategy which was a central focus of health policy in England from 1992 to 1997. Health of the Nation (HotN) listed 27 targets for improving the nation's health in 5 areas: coronary heart disease and stroke; cancer; accidents; mental illness; HIV/AIDS and sexual health. Iit represented the first explicit attempt by central Government to provide a coherent approach to improving overall health in England.
