Benson, Frank (Weston)

(1862–1951) painter, etcher; born in Salem, Mass. He studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (1877–80), and in Paris (1883), settled in Boston to teach at the Museum of Fine Arts (1889–1912), and summered in North Haven Island, Maine. A member of The Ten (1898), he was an impressionist, as in Summer (1890), and produced popular wildlife etchings.
