Hushu

an archaeological culture of the Aeneolithic period and Bronze Age (late second and early first millennia B.C.) that flourished along the lower Yangtse in China. Settlements were situated on floodplain terraces, a feature connected with the requirements of rice growing. Tools included polished stone adzes, axes, and knives. The geometric designs on the pottery attest to ties with the Neolithic cultures of the southern regions of East Asia. Metal articles are few, but finds of slag and crucibles indicate that some bronze articles were produced locally.
