Guseinov, Mirza Davud Bagir ogly
Born March 1894; died Mar. 21, 1938. Soviet party and government figure. Member of the Communist Party from November 1918. Born in Baku into the family of a priest.
Guseinov studied at the Moscow Commercial Institute. At the beginning of 1919, he joined the Gummet organization and entered its committee. Subsequently, he became a member of the Caucasian Regional Committee of the RCP (Bolshevik). At the First Congress of the Azerbaijani Communist Party in February 1920, Guseinov was elected chairman of the Central Committee of the Azerbaijani Communist Party. As a member of the Military Revolutionary Headquarters, he took part in preparing for the armed uprising against the Musavat government. After the victory of Soviet power, he was the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani Revolutionary Committee, people’s commissar of finance, and people’s commissar of foreign affairs. In the Transcaucasian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic, he served as deputy chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars, people’s commissar of finance, and people’s commissar of foreign affairs of the Azerbaijan SSR. From 1930 to 1933, Guseinov was first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Tadzhikistan. He was a delegate to the Fourteenth (1925) and Sixteenth (1930) Congresses of the ACP (Bolshevik). In the last years of his life, Guseinov worked in the People’s Commissariat of Education of the RSFSR.
