Gusinoe
Gusinoe
a lake in the region of Lake Baikal, in the Buriat Autonomous ASSR. Situated in the intermontane basin of Gusinoozersk; altitude, 550–600 m. Area, 163 sq km; length, 24 km; depth, to 28 m. The Tsagan-Gol River (a branch of the Temnik) and a number of smaller rivers flow into the lake; the Bain-Gol River, a tributary of the Temnik, which links Gusinoe Lake with the Selenga River, flows out of it. The lake is inhabited by a large number of waterfowl. The city of Gusinoozersk and the settlement of Gusinoe Ozero are located on its shores.
