Size: 147,000 acres.
Location:North-central Mississippi, southeast of Memphis. Accessible by US 72 and 78; MS 7, 4, 5, 6, 30, 349, 355, and 370. Nearby cities/towns include Holly Springs, New Albany, and Oxford.

Special Features:Historic Indian mounds, more than 40 lakes (originally built for flood and erosion control) including 260-acre Chewalla Lake. Nearby are state-owned Upper Sardis Wildlife Management Area and Wall Doxey State Park (see entry in Mississippi state parks section).
