Lauterpacht, Hersh
Born Aug. 16, 1897 in Lemberg; died May 8, 1960, in London. British jurist, doctor of law, member of the British Academy of Sciences, professor of international law at Cambridge University (1938–55), member of the International Law Commission of the UN (1951–55), and member of the UN International Court of Justice (1955–60).
Lauterpacht’s major works are Private Law Sources and Analogies of International Law (1927), The Function of Law inthe International Community (1933), International Law: A Treatise (1938), International Bill of the Rights of Man (1945), Recognition in International Law (1947), International Law and Human Rights (1950), and Development of International Law by the International Court (1958).
