(hol'ō sin'thās), An enzyme that catalyzes transfer of the 4'-phosphopantetheinyl residue from coenzyme A to a seryl residue of apo-ACP (acyl-carrier protein) to form holo-ACP, releasing adenosine 3',5'-bisphosphate; a required step if fatty acid biosynthesis is to function.
