Gravimetric Point

Gravimetric Point

a point on the earth’s surface where the acceleration of gravity has been measured and the geodetic coordinates, including elevation, have been determined. In conducting a gravimetric survey, a network of reference points of various categories, as well as of ordinary points, is created. Repeated measurements with highly accurate gravimetric instruments are made on the reference gravimetric points. The initial reference gravimetric point for all gravimetric surveys in the world is a point in Potsdam (German Democratic Republic).
