Huangshih

a city in China, in Hupeh Province, on the Yangtze River. Population, approximately 300,000 (1971). Huangshih has chemical, cement, and metallurgical plants. Hard coal is mined in the vicinity. The municipality (shih) of Huangshih includes the city of Tayeh, which is an iron-mining center.
