Hothouse Farm

in the USSR, the section of an agricultural enterprise that raises vegetables and vegetable seedlings for subsequent planting in the open ground. Hothouse farms are usually run by a brigade, department, or division within a vegetablegrowing sovkhoz or kolkhoz. Owing to the concentration and industrialization of hothouse vegetable raising, hothouse combines are now replacing hothouse farms.
