Gyroporus Cyanescens
Gyroporus Cyanescens
a pileate mushroom of the family Boletaceae. It somewhat resembles Boletus edulis. The cap is light yellow, but in old mushrooms its underside (the spongy layer) is yellowish green. The stem is large, light in color, and thickened toward the bottom. Initially it is loose inside, but later it becomes hollow. The flesh is white; when it is bruised or broken, it turns dark blue. Gyroporus cyanescens is relatively rare, it is found mostly in autumn in hardwood and coniferous forests. The mushroom is edible.
