Location:Northeastern Montana just west of Nelson Reservoir in Phillips County.
Activities:Hunting.
Special Features:A large shallow lake basin covers much of the refuge, with water absent some years. The alkaline nature of the lake precludes much vegetation growth.
Habitats: 1,680 acres, comprising a shallow lake basin with little vegetation.
Access: Limited by private ownership of surrounding areas; call refuge office for specific details.
Wild life: Migratory birds; also pronghorns and black-tailed prairie dogs.
