Location:On East Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, just west of A1A.
Facilities:Youth camp with 6 air-conditioned cabins (each with restrooms andkitchens), primitive youth camping area, picnic areas, pavilions,playgrounds, restrooms, canoe rental, nature trails, visitor center.
Activities:Group camping, canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, inline skating, birding, guided tours (seasonal).
Special Features:An island of trees and greenery in the middle of urban Fort Lauderdale,the park sits between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway,adjacent to Fort Lauderdale Beach. It contains several distinct nativebiological communities, including amaritime hammock and a freshwater lagoon. The Terramar Visitor Center,which was Hugh Taylor Birch's home, has displays of the area's historyand of its unique ecosystem.
