(formerly Kuku Hoto, Hohohoto, Kweisui), a city in North China. Since 1954, the capital of Inner Mongolia. Population, 700,000 (1970).

Huhohaot’e is a transportation center on the Peking-Paot’ou Railroad. The city is a highway junction and a center for the transshipment of farm produce. Huhohaot’e has a ferrous metallurgical plant, as well as plants that manufacture machine tools, motor vehicles, tractors, farm machinery, internal-combustion engines, hydroturbines, chemical products, food products, and textiles. There are also cottage industries. Huhohaot’e has a university.
