house and home

house and home

Two operationally linked, yet conceptually disparate words; a house is a place that serves as living quarters, providing shelter for one or more individuals. Home is where a person lives, spends much of his or her time, and generally feels comfortable. The distinction is of some interest in that the so-called care homes and care homes with nursing in the UK are more houses than homes.
