A sustainable approach to real estate development that incorporates environmental issues such as efficient and appropriate use of land, energy, water, and other resources; protection of significant habitats, endangered species, archeological treasures, and cultural resources; and integration of work, habitat, and agriculture. A development approach that integrates environmental responsiveness, benefits the surrounding environment, provides resource efficiency in the construction, development and operations of buildings and/or communities in ways that are not wasteful, and sensitivity to the existing culture of the community.
