Hector Agosti

Agosti, Hector

 

Born 1911. Argentine philosopher, sociologist, writer, and literary critic. Member of the Argentine Communist Party.

Agosti is active in the movement for university reform and is the ideologist of its left wing. He has been repeatedly persecuted for his political views. His books include a history of Argentine literature entitled Ingenieros, Mentor of Youth (1945), E. Zola (1941), French Literature (1944), and In Defense of Realism (1945). In his books he advocates the ideas of socialist realism and Marxist humanism.
