1, 2, 3-Benzotriazole

an organic compound that occurs in the form of white, needle-shaped crystals.

Its melting point is 96°–98.5°C. It is insoluble in water and is soluble in alcohol and benzene. It is obtained by the action of KN02 on o-phenylenediamine in an acidic medium. It is used in analytical chemistry for the precipitation and quantitative determination of metals such as Cu, Ag, and Zn, as well as in photography as an antifogging agent.
