[‚hī·dad·ə′lā·lēz] (botany) An order of monocotyledonous flowering plants, division Magnoliophyta, of the class Liliopsida, characterized by small, submersed or partly submersed aquatic annuals with greatly simplified internal anatomy; consists of a single family with five species native to Australia, New Zealand, and Tasmania.
