Ides of March
Ides of March
March 15 on the ancient Roman calendar. The date is famous because Julius Caesar was assassinated on Mar. 15,44 B.C. The conspirators, led by Gaius Cassius, Marcus Brutus, and Decimus Brutus Albinus, feared Caesar’s growing monarchical aspirations and murdered him in Pompey’s theater in Rome at a meeting of the Senate.
