Illyrian an ancient Indo-European language, which was spoken by the Illyrians. No written remains are known in the Balkans. The language is reconstructed on the basis of a large number of geographic and personal names, a few glosses, and inscriptions found in the southern part of the Italian Peninsula in the Messapian language, which most specialists consider to be Illyrian.
