Heinz body anaemia

A form of non-spherocytic haemolytic anaemia of Dacie type 1 (OMIM:140700), characterised by an increase of basophilic inclusions—Heinz bodies—which correspond to precipitated haemoglobin within red cells after splenectomy.
Molecular pathology
Defects in HBB, which encodes beta haemoglobin, cause Heinz body anaemia.
