释义 | HomoeomeryHo`moe`om´e`ry
HomoeomeryHomoeomerya term of ancient philosophy which, according to Aristotle, was used by Anaxagoras to denote the smallest element of any quality. This element contains the infinity of existing qualities (“everything is in everything”). Therefore, as can be surmised, matter was considered eternal and indestructible, regardless of any changes or destruction of its parts. The term “homoeomery” does not appear in the texts of Anaxagoras that have been preserved (he speaks of “seeds” or “aspects”); so it probably was conceived by later philosophers. |
