Griazi

a city (before 1938, a settlement) in Lipetsk Oblast, RSFSR, on the Matyra River (a tributary of the Voronezh). Railway junction of lines to Moscow, Orel, Voronezh, and Volgograd, 30 km southeast of Lipetsk. Population, 41,000 (1970).

Griazi has plants turning out cultivators, lime, and items of reinforced concrete, a mechanical repair plant, a sugar refinery, and rail transport industries (including a diesel shunting locomotive repair plant), a garment factory, and a foodstuffs combine. A hydraulic equipment plant is under construction (1971).
