Individual and Team Training

one of the forms of short-term training (up to six months), through the method of attaching one or several apprentices to a more qualified worker so that, under his direction, they learn to do jobs involving mostly elementary skills.

Individual and team training is organized to meet the ongoing needs of the enterprise for trained workers. Such training follows certain instruction programs basically structured around on-the-job training. As a rule, about 20 percent of learning time is spent in theoretical study of basic technical knowledge. The programs for the most popular professions and specialties are worked out by the State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR for Professional and Technical Education. In other fields the programs are developed by the corresponding ministries and administrations. In the USSR in 1970, 4.5 million workers were trained for new professions and specialties directly at their enter prises, a considerable number of them under the program for individual and team training. As a result of scientific and technological progress and the increased demands of enterprises for higher quality and a higher level of training for skilled workers, emphasis is increasingly being shifted to instruction in educational institutions under the system for professional and technical education.
