[¦hī·ər¦är·kə·kəl kən′trōl] (control systems) The organization of controllers in a large-scale system into two or more levels so that controllers in each level send control signals to controllers in the level below and feedback or sensing signals to controllers in the level above. Also known as control hierarchy.
