[¦hī·drə·jən ′bəb·əl ‚meth·əd] (fluid mechanics) A method of flow visualization in which hydrogen bubbles are generated by electrolysis of water using wire electrodes, and are made to form either time lines (by applying a pulsating voltage to a bare cathode) or streamlines (by applying a continuous voltage to a kink in an insulated cathode).
