Location:At the west end of State Route 586, north of Dunedin.

Special Features:Honeymoon Island is one in the chain of barrier islands that extendsfrom Anclote Key south to Cape Romano. Originally called Hog Island, itbecame Honeymoon Isle in 1939 when a New York developer built 50palm-thatched bungalows for honeymooners. Today visitors can enjoy thepark's Gulf beaches, mangrove swamps, and tidal flats, as well as oneof South Florida's few remaining virgin slash pine forests.
