It is now 7.6 sq mi (19.8 sq km) in area and 5 mi (8 km) long.Grossglocknerthe highest peak in Austria, part of the Hohe Tauern range. Altitude, 3,797 m. The peak is composed of crystalline rock and has the shape of a sharpened pyramid. On the eastern slope are glaciers up to 9 km long. |
