GrossulariaceaeGrossulariaceae(gooseberry), a family of dicotyledonous plants. They are shrubs with alternate, simple, palmately lobed leaves. The stipules are attached to the petiole or are absent. The flowers, which are bisexual or unisexual, are either racemose or single and are regular. There are five sepals, five petals, and five stamens (rarely four each). The fruit is a berry (paracarpous), crowned with a residual calyx. There are one or two genera (approximately 150 species), distributed in the temperate regions of Eurasia and North and South America. In the USSR there are approximately 50 species.
