(hŏk′sē) [Harry Hoxsey, 1901–1974, Am. herbalist] An alternative therapy for cancer consisting of a tonic (of barberry, cascara, clover, licorice, pokeroot, and other herbs) and a diet enriched in grape juice, iron, calcium, vitamin C, and yeast. The therapy has been proven to be ineffective.
