Hoxsey treatment

Hoxsey treatment

Fringe oncology
An unproven cancer therapy consisting of a “brown tonic”, containing potassium iodide, liquorice and herbs (barberry root, buckthorn bark, burdock root, cascara amarga, pokeweed, prickley ash bark, red clover and stillingia root). Brown tonic is used for internal malignancies; other Hoxsey tonics are topical escharotic formulations used for skin cancer. Hoxsey treatment also requires a “positive attitude” and an elimination diet (no sugar, salt or alcohol). Hoxsey tonics were banned by the FDA, but may be available at some alternative health centres in Tijuana, Mexico.
