ap·o·crine sweat gland (apō-krin swet gland) Specialized sudoriferous gland located primarily in the armpits, groin, breasts, ears, and eyelids. apocrine sweat glandAny of the sweat glands in the axillae and pubic region that open into hair follicles rather than directly onto the surface of the skin as do eccrine sweat glands. They appear after puberty and are more developed in women than in men.
