Ikrianistova, Mariia

(party pseudonym, Truba). Born Apr. 4 (16), 1887, in the village of D’iakovo, in present-day Ivanovo Raion, Ivanovo Oblast; died Oct. 14, 1966, in Moscow. Participant in the revolutionary movement and the struggle for Soviet power in Ivanovo-Voznesensk. Member of the Communist Party from 1904.

The daughter of a poor peasant, Ikrianistova worked in textile mills from the age of 14. During the Ivanovo-Voznesensk strike of 1905 (May-July), she was a deputy to one of the first Soviets of workers’ deputies in the country. During 1905–07, she worked for Bolshevik underground presses: first on Lesnaia Street in Moscow, later in Ivanovo-Voznesensk. After the February Revolution of 1917, she was a member of the Ivanovo-Voznesensk soviet of workers’ deputies and a participant in the October Revolution of 1917. She did party work among women. In Moscow beginning in 1919 she engaged in organizational and teaching work in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and was a member of the board of the People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs (NKVD). She was a delegate to the Twelfth Congress of the RCP (Bolshevik) in 1923. She was elected a member of the CEC of the USSR and the All-Russian CEC. Ikrianistova retired in 1940. She was awarded two Orders of Lenin.
