Grouping of Forces

a collective concept, which denotes the composition and disposition of units of all sizes (also naval forces) designated to carry out combat activity. The grouping of forces is formed in accordance with the nature of the assigned operational (combat) mission (attack, defense, and so on), the conditions of the situation, and the commander’s decision. Various concepts are also used, including grouping of forces in a theater of operations or in a particular region, grouping of artillery, and grouping of tank forces or naval forces.
