Industry Bet

Industry Bet

The act of an investor buying or selling stock in an entire industry rather than in only one company in that industry. Investors make industry bets instead of "company bets" because it is thought to be easier to predict an uptrend or downtrend for a set of related stocks rather than any individual stock.
