Epidemiology The bias that arises in a clinical study because of misclassification of the level of exposure to the agent or factor being assessed and/or misclassification of the disease itself; a type of bias that occurs when measurement of information–eg, exposure or disease—differs among study groups. information bias

The mistaken use of information that has no value in making clinical decisions. It is based on the incorrect belief that more information, even irrelevant information, must always be acquired before making a decision.
