Interisland Seas

Interisland Seas

seas surrounded by a tight ring of is-lands with sills between them that prevent the free exchange of water between the seas and the open ocean. Almost all the interisland seas are found among the islands of the Malay Archipelago. The largest are the Java, Banda, and Sulawesi seas. In terms of geostructure, most of the seas are part of contemporary geosynclinal areas.
