integrated continence service

integrated continence service

A service at some NHS trusts in which artificial divisions of primary and secondary care incontinence are abolished by joining forces between otherwise disparate services. Integrated continence services (ICSs) are provided by a multidisciplinary team approach which includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, continence nurses and consultants in the relevant specialties. ICSs address a number of key areas including child health, postnatal risk assessment with midwives, physiotherapy, urogynaecology, elderly care and stroke, and urinary and faecal incontinence.
