Inosinic Acids

nucleotides containing one inosine radical and one, two, or three phosphoric acid radicals—inosine monophosphoric, inosine diphosphoric, and inosine triphosphoric acids (IMP, IDP, and ITP). Inosinic acids are normal constituents of muscle and other tissues. IDP and ITP are high-energy compounds: the separation of one phosphoric acid radical from IDP and two radicals from ITP is accompanied by the release of stored energy. The formation of inosinic acids is an essential stage in the biosynthesis of purine nucleotides in animal organisms. IMP can be produced in an organism as a result of the deamination of adenylic acid.
