International Civil Procedure

a special section of private international law pertaining to international jurisdiction in civil cases, to the civil procedural status of foreign citizens, enterprises, and organizations, and to the subjection of a foreign state and its diplomatic representatives to jurisdiction. It also deals with enforcement of the judicial commissions of foreign courts and the recognition and compulsory enforcement of decisions of foreign courts. The fundamental principle of international civil procedure is lex fori, according to which a court considering cases involving foreign citizens or property in another country generally applies the procedural rules of its own country.
