Intermediary Language

Intermediary Language

in applied linguistics, a system of correspondence, based on logic, between two or more languages that provides translations according to the following rule: language,-intermediary language-language2. In this case, the intermediary language constitutes an abstract model that contains a special conceptual vocabulary and a set of grammatical rules for transforming the structures of one language into the structures of another by means of a generalized, or deep, base language.
