ink blot test

Any of several psychological tests, such as the Rorschach test, in which the subject indicates his or her perception of a random-shape pattern produced by folding a sheet of paper over a large ink-blot. It is doubtful whether the method has any real objective analytic value independently of the qualities of the analyst.
