Karpov, Vladimir Borisovich
Born Feb. 13 (26), 1912, in the city of Khvalynsk, in present-day Saratov Oblast. Soviet Byelorussian writer.
Karpov took part in the partisan movement in Byelorussia. He is the author of the collections of literary criticism On the Path to Maturity (1952) and Winged Takeoff (\\966), the novella Without a Neutral Zone (1950), and the novels Year After Year (1957), Spring Showers (1961), and The Nemigas Bloody Banks (1962). The exploits of the Byelorussian partisans and the life of the working class are the main themes of Karpov’s works. He has been awarded the Order of the Red Star and several medals.
