Jennewein, Carl Paul

Jennewein, Carl Paul

(1890–1980) sculptor; born in Stuttgart, Germany. He emigrated to New York City (1907), studied at the Art Students League, returned to Europe (1913–14), studied in Rome (1916), and returned to New York to specialize in stylized and decorative sculptures, such as The Greek Dance (1926). In 1963 he became president of Brookgreen Gardens, S.C., a sculpture garden and nature preserve.
