Kavkazskii Rabochii Listok

 

(Caucasian Workers’ Leaflet), the first Bolshevik daily newspaper in the Caucasus, the organ of the Caucasian Union Committee of the RSDLP. The Kavkazskii rabochii listok was published in Russian in Tbilisi from Nov. 20 (Dec. 3) to Dec. 14 (27), 1905. It was headed by J. V. Stalin and S. G. Shaumian. There were 17 issues, and the circulation of the newspaper reached 15, 000–17, 000. A number of Lenin’s articles were reprinted in the paper. The Kavkazskii rabochii listok dealt with problems of Marxist-Leninist theory and the practical tasks of revolutionary struggle and party-building, and it played a major role in strengthening the Bolshevik organizations. The newspaper was hounded by the authorities, and issues number 1, 2, 7, 8, 11–14, 16, and 17 were confiscated.Starting with issue number 15 the newspaper was banned, butissues number 16 and 17 came out under the title Elizavetpol’skii vestnik.
