Bugrimova, Irina Nikolaevna

 

Born Mar. 13, 1910, in Kharkov. Soviet circus artist and animal trainer. People’s Artist of the USSR (1969). Member of the CPSU since 1951.

Bugrimova is the first female trainer of wild animals in the USSR. She began her performing career in 1929 in an act entitled “Sleigh Ride Under the Big Top” (created in collaboration with A. N. Buslaev). Since 1939 she has worked as an animal trainer in circus attractions with trained lions. She was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and a medal.
