Istorik-Marksist
Istorik-Marksist
(Marxist Historian), a scholarly journal published in Moscow from 1926 to 1941.
The journal was the organ of the Society of Marxist Historians of the Communist Academy and its Institute of History from 1926 to 1931 and of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR from 1936 to 1941. Twenty-two issues were published from 1926 to 1931. During 1932–34 and 1936-39, six issues a year were published. There were 12 issues in 1935 and in 1940. The editors in chief of Istorik-Marksist were M.N. Pokrovskii (1930–32), N.M. Lukin (1933–38), and E.M. Iaroslavskii (1938–41). The journal dealt with questions of the history of the fatherland and the world, including Eastern countries. It played an important role in the struggle with bourgeois historiography and in the consolidation of Marxist conceptions in Soviet historical science. It merged with Istoricheskii zhurnal (Historical Journal) in 1941.
